– Simon Sinek

About Founder Denise Kaigler
Denise Kaigler was born in Huntington, West Virginia and grew up in and around the greater Washington, D.C. area. Denise and her two sisters were raised by their divorced mother, who had sole financial responsibility for her girls. As a direct and indirect result, Denise’s childhood was plagued by socioeconomic challenges and social anxiety disorders.
Despite her childhood adversities, Denise was able to defy the odds during her career and break numerous glass ceilings at multi-billion-dollar companies. She held senior and executive leadership roles, including senior vice president, chief communications officer, and chief marketing officer, at several consumer and global brands. Her past employers include Reebok, adidas Group, Nintendo, and medical device giant Boston Scientific.
In 2015, after nearly 25 years in corporate, Denise founded MDK Brand Management. She was passionate about pouring into her clients the lessons she learned and relevant skills she acquired. Denise’s depth and breadth of experience distinguishes MDK Brand Management from other small branding firms. This experience is embedded across MDK Brand Management’s three primary services.
In February of 2025, Denise was selected by the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program to be a Business Advisor. In this role, she is coaching and advising the 7th cohort of Black women sole proprietors, helping to guide the growth of their businesses. “Supporting my ten Goldman Sachs ‘scholars’ is a fulfilling and rewarding journey.” Denise deeply appreciates Goldman Sachs’ commitment to Black women business owners. According to reports, despite a high rate of Black women starting businesses, only about 3% of these businesses survive beyond five years, making the Goldman Sachs OMBW: BIB program a critical resource.
In addition to her Goldman Sachs and MDK Brand Management responsibilities, Denise is an adjunct professor at UMass Boston and Lasell University. Additionally, she is a published author. Denise’s book Forty Dollars and a Brand: How to Overcome Challenges, Defy the Odds and Live Your Awesomeness is available online at Amazon. Forty Dollars and a Brand includes brand-building tips, steps, exercises, activities, and first-hand celebrity stories. Denise is very active in the nonprofit community. She serves on the Executive Committee as Clerk of the Banner Institute of Community News, the nonprofit arm of Boston’s community media outlet, the Bay State Banner. In addition, she is a director on the Sail Boston board, the Boston Chamber of Commerce board and is a founding director on the advisory board of the UMass Boston Sport Leadership & Administration degree program.
On the personal side, Denise is divorced and has an adult daughter and adult son. She currently resides outside of Boston, Massachusetts.
